What are the network configuration requirements for connecting a WIFI monitor?
The technical requirements for the WIFI network are as follows:
- Supported WIFI frequency: 2.4GHz (monitor does not support 5GHz).
- Supports WPA2 and WEP encryption (not compatible with open networks or WPA2-Enterprise).
- DHCP enabled: the router must have the DHCP server enabled to automatically assign an IP address to the monitor.
- NTP access (to establish a secure connection with TLS).
- Check that you are not using a VPN (virtual private network) or a proxy server on either the router or the mobile phone.
- If you are trying to connect the monitor to a "guest" network, check that the router does not have isolation mode enabled. Some "guest" networks have this setting by default.
Advanced network settings: Optimal firewall configuration
To ensure an optimal connection, please your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or router manufacturer for assistance with your firewall settings and ensuring that the following ports are open.
Outbound traffic to the Internet
TCP/MQTT port 8883 for data traffic.
- TCP/HTTPS/HTTP port 443/80 for data traffic.
- UDP/NTP port 123 for time synchronization.
- UDP/TCP port 53 for DNS.
