The app asks for a PIN or password to open the door
This happens because the optional extra security feature called Confirm Opening is enabled.
You can find it and enable or disable it in Settings > General > Confirm Opening.
When it’s enabled, every time you try to open the door from the app, you must confirm the action using your phone’s unlock method (password, pattern, fingerprint, or facial recognition).
