The back-up battery is an optional component of the system.
The expanders included in the EXP2D and EXP4D control units incorporate a battery charging circuit that can supply a current of 0.3 A or 0.6 A, until the supply voltage provided to the expander (13.8 Vdc nominal) is reached. The charging current is selected using configuration jumpers.
To preserve the battery’s service life, the expander continuously monitors its voltage:
To comply with the requirement of the EN 60839 standard, which stipulates that at least 80 per cent of the battery’s capacity must be recovered within a maximum of 24 hours, it is recommended to set the charging current according to the capacity of the installed battery:
Important: Selecting the correct charging current ensures the battery is recharged properly and that the recovery times required by the standard are met.
These power stations support 12 Vdc batteries ranging from 7 to 17 Ah.
